Austin Belfiori, DO
Hey my name is Austin Belfiori and I’m originally from Warren, Michigan. I did my undergraduate education at Wayne State University in Detroit and went to medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in South Carolina. I returned to the old stomping grounds due to the volume and acuity that the AMOH program provides. In my free time, I like to work out, watch sports, and play video games. I also enjoy traveling with my wife, finding cool hiking spots, and trying new restaurants and breweries.
Call Coddington, DO
Originally from Grand Rapids, MI, I completed my undergraduate education at Albion College and graduated from medical school at MSUCOM. I chose emergency medicine because of its “hands-on” approach to patient care, and I strongly believe that the program at AMOH provides ample opportunity to become an effective and highly-competent ER physician. I take special interest in emergent vascular access, trauma, and resuscitative procedures; and when I’m not working you can find me fly-fishing, hunting, playing rugby, or exercising.
Kurt Erhardt, MD
I’m originally from western New York, having grown up in the city of Rochester. After completing my undergraduate degree in Neurobiology and Physiology at the University of Maryland, I worked as an emergency medicine scribe for over a year which sparked my interest in this field. I then went on to attend Ross University School of Medicine, graduating with highest honors. In my spare time, I enjoy going for runs, exploring the greater Detroit and Michigan restaurant scene, and taking trips back to New York to visit my family/friends and spend time with my two Siberian huskies.
Purvi Desai, DO
Hi, I’m Purvi Desai and I am originally from Chicago, Illinois. I attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for my undergraduate education and went to Kansas City University for medical school. During my audition rotation, I was very impressed with the acuity and volume that came through AMOH and knew that I wanted to come here for residency! In my free time I enjoy baking, traveling, biking, hiking, and exploring different restaurants. I am excited to see what’s in store for the next three years!
Steve Jones, DO
John Kemink, DO
Born and raised in Ann Arbor Michigan. I went to undergraduate at Hope College in Holland, Michigan and studied biology and psychiatry. Despite being from Ann Arbor I enjoyed 4 years of medical school in East Lansing at MSUCOM. I chose to continue medical education in the Detroit area as I believe the volume and the pathology that our hospital sees and turns out creates a very competent physician. In my free time I enjoy mountain biking, snowboarding/skiing, sailing and spending time with my wife and dog. I live in downtown Royal Oak and enjoy all the bars as well as restaurants in the area.
Welcome! I was born and raised right here in the metro-Detroit area. For my undergraduate studies I attended the University of Michigan where I studied economics but ultimately found my way to medicine. For medical school I went down the road to MSUCOM which is how I discovered AMOH. This residency program is a crucible of experiences. The sheer volume and critical nature of our patient population speaks to the quality of training at AMOH. I fundamentally believe I’ll be ready for anything once I graduate. My academic interests within EM include critical care, pediatrics and wilderness/austere medicine. Outside of the hospital you’ll find me rock climbing, mountaineering, backpacking, skiing and spending time with my family and friends in Michigan’s beautiful landscape.
Micah Luke, MD
Micah was born in God’s country, South Dakota. After leaving the gentle rolling prairie in pursuit of emergency medicine education, he settled on a nobler mission- finding the perfect sandwich in America. Hot or cold, tortas or shawarma, banh mi or bocadillo, open faced or even ribbon. Micah takes all comers.
Brian Powers, DO
Hey my name is Brian Powers and I am from Troy, Michigan. I chose emergency medicine because it has so much variety and gives you opportunities to learn about a variety of different topics unlike many other specialties. I also love being able to make a difference in a way that I can often see immediate results. During my free time, I like traveling to different national parks and exploring new hikes. I also love concerts and live music
Katherine Reyburn, MD
A West Michigan native, Katherine “Kat” Reyburn grew up sailing, hiking, and fly-fishing. When she isn’t running around the department, you’ll find Kat at a local dog park with her pup Kenai or jetting off to Alaska to reel in some salmon. While multiple aspects drew Kat to EM, she is the most passionate about pediatrics, medical education, and women’s health. Kat plans to move to Alaska following residency to work in a community hospital as well as with victims of sexual assault.
