Program Leadership
Micheal Buggia, MD, FACEP
Program Director
I assumed the role of Program Director in July 2022. After completing my medical education at Wayne State University School of Medicine, I relocated to Boston to complete my residency training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/ Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency. After graduating residency, I took my first job as an attending physician at one of the busiest emergency departments in Massachusetts allowing me to develop my skills to be able to function in a high volume and high acuity department. I returned to Michigan in 2016 where I took a position at Ascension Macomb Oakland Hospital. Though I initially started as non-core faculty I quickly realized my passion for graduate medical education. Working clinically with our residents is the best and most rewarding aspect of my job, especially at a program that offers such robust opportunities to care for critically ill and injured patients. I became a core faculty member in 2021 and was appointed the Director of Clinical Education for the program. Here I focused my efforts at strengthening the clinical experience for our residents and medical students, ensuring they receive an outstanding education while working in our departments. In addition to graduate medical education I also have a strong interest in neurologic emergencies including vascular neurology (stroke) and epilepsy.
Brandon Fishman, DO
Associate Program Director
I grew up in West Bloomfield, MI and attended the University of Michigan for my undergraduate studies. After graduation, I scribed in an ED for a year and realized emergency medicine was a perfect fit for me. I graduated from MSUCOM and attended residency here at Ascension Macomb-Oakland where I served as one of the chief residents during my third year. I’m thrilled to be a part of core faculty and to have the opportunity to contribute to this fantastic emergency medicine program. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my two dogs, exploring Detroit, and playing games on my PC.
Michael Feld, MD

Ilya Kott, MD
Core Faculty, Simulation Director
After graduating from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia I completed my residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. My first job was at Ascension Macomb. I haven't left since. You don't leave a good place with good people. Since joining the residency as core faculty, I have been running simulation scenarios with the residents and recently established our own simulation lab with two mannequins. When I am not busy treating patients or playing with my mannequins, I am spending time at home with my wife and 5 children.
